Wellness Committee
The Stillwater Wellness Committee was established by the Stillwater City Council by Ordinance No. 2992 approved April 23, 2007. The mission of the Stillwater Wellness Committee is to promote prevention awareness and recognize the health and wellness needs in the community, thereby enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Stillwater, and the surrounding Payne County communities.
The Stillwater Wellness Committee is composed of nine persons appointed by the Stillwater City Council representing those Stillwater health care and educational entities and organizations that have demonstrated an interest in the health needs of the community. The Stillwater Wellness Committee meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. in the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 South Lewis. The meetings are open to the public.
Duties of the Stillwater Wellness Committee are:
- Make annual recommendations to the Stillwater City Council regarding health and wellness initiatives.
- Coordinate the official activities of the Stillwater Wellness Committee and programs initiated by the committee.
- Initiate special health and wellness activities as requested by the City Council.
- Initiate public information activities designed to keep Stillwater citizens informed of Stillwater Wellness Committee activities and encourage the greatest community involvement possible in health and wellness programs.
- When appropriate, assist the activities of other community groups which are involved in similar programs.
