Frequently Asked QuestionsWho do I contact if I have a water or sewer emergency? During the hours 7am to 4pm, please call 405.533.8048 and after hours, please call 405.372.3292. Where does my water come from? Our current source is Kaw Lake, which is located approximately 10 miles east of Ponca City. Water is pumped about 40 miles from Kaw Lake to our water treatment facility. Our treatment facility supplies about 7 million gallons of potable water to the citizens of Stillwater, several rural water districts and mobile home communities in Payne County Oklahoma. How is my water treated and made safe for consumption? The treatment process involves several controlled steps; chemical addition followed by coagulation and filtration to remove fine particles and sediment. Disinfection is accomplished by ozonation and chlorination. Ammonia is added to aid in maintaining chlorine residual in the distribution system. Addition of fluoride to the finished water helps in preventing tooth decay. | |
