Three Stillwater firefighters promoted

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / July 13, 2012) — The Stillwater Fire Department is pleased to announce the promotions of officers, Terry Essary, Michael Clark and Jason Stromski.

Terry Essary Essary, a member of the Stillwater Fire Department for over 11 years, was promoted from captain to battalion chief. Essary, who holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, began his work with the Stillwater Fire Department 1997. Essary serves as an EMS and fitness instructor for the Stillwater Fire Department and is a CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training) certified member of Stillwater Police Department’s SWAT team. Essary is also a homeland security instructor.
In his role as battalion chief, Essary will oversee and lead 21 men who are stationed at all four Stillwater Fire Department locations.

Jason Stromski Stromski, former firefighter II/driver has been promoted to the officer rank of lieutenant. Stromski began working for the Stillwater Fire Department in 2002. In his more than 10 years of service with the Stillwater Fire Department, Stromski has become involved in many department entities. Stromski is a member of the Special Operations Team and is currently an EMT- intermediate. Stromski will complete paramedic school in July.
As a lieutenant, Stromski will assist the captain of their daily duties and assume that role of responsibility during their absence.

Michael Clark After serving as a volunteer with the City of Crescent Fire and EMS service, Clark joined Stillwater Fire Department in 1992. Clark has been promoted from lieutenant to captain within the Stillwater Fire Department. Clark is currently an EMT and a hazardous material technician. He serves as a fire instructor for c-shift and is on the rescue and hazardous material teams. Clark has attended many out of state training classes, including the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md.
As a captain for the Stillwater Fire Department, Clark will be in charge of personnel at a station within the organization. He will assist the battalion chief of daily duties and fill in during their absence from the fire department.

The Stillwater Fire Department is a professional municipal department, comprised of 71 uniformed personnel and 2 non-uniformed, serving a jurisdiction of 28 square miles within Stillwater city limits and an estimated population of 49,000 and Oklahoma State University campus with an enrollment of more than 20,000. The fire service area includes all of Payne County and parts of Noble, Pawnee and Lincoln counties with a combined population of approximately 82,000.
