Teens, Adults Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who

(STILLWATER, OK / Nov. 4, 2013) – After 12 doctors and 800 episodes, the cult classic television show Dr. Who is celebrating its 50th anniversary.   In honor of all of its Whovian-patrons, the Stillwater Public Library will commemorate the anniversary of the landmark British Sci-Fi program with an adult and a teen celebration called “Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey Stuff.”

“Some of the most avid and devoted library patrons are huge Doctor Who fans,” said Scott Freeman, librarian. “The 50 year anniversary of such an influential show was just too good of an opportunity to pass up for a quality event.  We’ve loads of Science Fiction books that Whovians will love.”

The festivities will occur over two nights.  The teens will have a program on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m., while adults will meet on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.  Both events will feature Doctor Who focused games, crafts and snacks.  Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite doctor, companion, villain or in another related costume.

The programs are free. Registration is requested, but not required.  To sign-up, contact the library at 405-372-3633 x106 or askalibrarian@stillwater.org.  Visit the library at http://library.stillwater.org.
