(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Feb. 26, 2014) — Friends of Sue Herndon and community members are invited to a dedication at the Stillwater Public Library on Tuesday, March. 11. Herndon, who passed away on Aug. 25, 2012, is being honored for her donation to the Stillwater Public Library Trust.
“The Trust is so grateful for Ms. Herndon’s endowment,” said Barbara Miller, chair of the Stillwater Public Library Trust. “Donations like this ensure that the library trust can support excellence in library services. She has given our library a future.”
The dedication will take place in the Auditorium at the beginning of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Town Hall at 1 p.m. After the dedication, the public is invited to stay for the OLLI Town Hall program about Habitat for Humanity.
“At the dedication, we will unveil her commemorative plaque which will hang in the library,” said Lynda Reynolds, library director. “It will take its place along with plaques commemorating some of our other library heroes.”

The Stillwater Public Library Trust, created in 1984 and governed by a five member local board, encourages private donations. These donations ensure the growth, security, and perpetuity of the library by providing equipment and services not otherwise available.
Past funds have been used for projects such as providing a bookmobile for homebound users and community outreach, updating computer equipment and book collections and providing testing and genealogical databases. This month, the Trust also purchased the books to be distributed during “One Book, One Community: Stillwater Reads Fahrenheit 451” series.
