Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for the con­struction and maintenance of streets and sidewalks, management of the city’s vehicle fleet, the installa­tion and maintenance of traffic control devices, solid waste collection and recycling, and management of the city’s storm water drainage as well as provid­ing responsive community services that contribute to public health, safety, environmental quality and citizen convenience.

  • Construction Management

    The Construction Management division provides bid and contract administration for the city’s infrastructure projects.  The division is responsible for performing engineering surveys, materials research and evaluation, and field inspections for the design and construction of roadways and bridges and related infrastructure projects such as drainage, water distribution and wastewater collection system projects.  The Construction Management division performs project management from the planning stages of construction through completion to include preparation of contract documents and technical specifications and field inspections to ensure compliance.

  • Engineering

    The Public Works Engineering Division is responsible for directing or performing all engineering work associated with planning, design, and construction administration of the Capital Improvement Program (General Fund), Transportation Improvement Program, Transportation Fee Program, and the Stormwater Management Program.

  • Street

    The Street Division provides citywide street maintenance and repairs, sidewalk maintenance and repairs, drainage structure maintenance and repair, street cleaning, and snow and ice removal in winter conditions.

  • Traffic Control

    The Traffic Control Division is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of all traffic control devices within the City of Stillwater. This includes approximately 61 signalized intersections, and 7,300 traffic signs on more than 500 lane miles of roadway.
