  1. Where do I sign up for programs?
    Sign up for art programs at the Multi Arts Center, 1001 S. Duck and senior programs at the senior activities center, 1015 E. 12th. Sign up for all other programs at the Armory Recreation Center, 315 E. 9th.
  2. How can I report a maintenance issue in a park?
    Contact Larry Devers at 747-8070, or enter an assistance request under online services on the City’s home page.
  3. How can I find out if a scheduled ball game has been rained out?
    Announcements will be made on the home page of the City web site or call 533-4FUN (4386). Decisions on whether or not a game can be played are usually made by 3:00 PM on the day of the game.
  4. Why are the restrooms closed in winter?
    They must be winterized to keep the pipes from freezing on cold days. Restrooms are open from April 15th through October 15th unless an unusual cold snap is expected.
  5. How long is the trail around Boomer Lake?
    It’s 3 miles if you walk or bike the entire loop around Boomer Lake.
Programs and Services

  • Armory Recreation Center: The Armory Recreation Center is located at 315 E. 9th and is open to the public 8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday. Two basketball courts are available. Contact 747-8070 to determine availability.

  • Senior Activity Center: The Senior Activity Center located at 1015 E. 12th is a social and recreational facility for citizens age 55 and older. The center is open Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Saturday 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. Closed Sundays. Contact Rachel Palmer at 747-8080

  • Multi Arts Center: The Multi Arts Center located at 1001 S. Duck offers a variety of art classes for adults and children. The center is open Monday - Thursday from 9 AM - 9 PM, Friday from 9 AM - 8 PM, Saturday 9 AM - 5 PM, and Sunday 2 PM - 5 PM. Contact Jessica Novak at 747-8084.

  • Park Operations: Responsible for maintenance and repairs to parks and facilities. Parks are currently mowed on a 14 day rotation. Contact Larry Devers at 747-8070.

  • Sports: Sports programs for adults and youth include baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Contact Danny Gaches at 747-8070 about youth sports. Contact Barbara Bliss at 747-8070 about adult sports.

  • Facility Reservations: Various park facilities can be reserved for a fee. Contact Barbara Bliss at 747-8070.

  • Adopt-a-Park: The Adopt-A-Park Program is a volunteer program for citizens, groups and businesses to participate in the beautification of our city’s parks, plazas and trails. Contact Eve Morgan at 747-8070.

  • Forestry: The Forestry Program provides information about trees to the public, as well as managing tree planting projects and tree maintenance issues in our parks and public spaces. Contact Eve Morgan at 747-8070.

  • Swimming Pool: The Couch Park swimming pool offers daily open swim and swim lessons from May 24th through August 10th. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 1 PM - 5 PM and 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM, Sunday 1 PM - 5 PM. Contact Amy Jo Frazier at 747-8070.

  • Lake McMurtry: Lake McMurtry offers swimming, fishing, boating, camping, mountain bike and hiking trails. For more information, contact Rodney Wilson at 747-8085. The lake office is usually staffed Wednesday through Sunday.
