Located in north-central Oklahoma, Stillwater is the area’s educational, shopping, dining and recreational hub. We are a vibrant city of approximately 50,000 residents, conveniently located just 20 miles east of I-35, one hour from Oklahoma City and Tulsa and one and a half hours from Wichita, Kansas.
A strong community-policing philosophy guides the efforts of the department as officers work with partners in the community to identify and solve problems. The department is a full-service law enforcement agency with 80 sworn officers and 45 civilian support employees who provide 24/7 police services.
The Stillwater Police Department is housed in a state of the art facility. The building is a four story structure including underground parking, office space, fitness center, central communications center, detention center, and full classroom training facilities.

Starting Salary Range:
$52,249- $58,822 annually (based on experience)

New officers receive initial training through the Oklahoma Police Academy. Upon completion of the CLEET Academy’s 18-week program, new officers must complete SPD’s Recruit Training Program (18 weeks) and Field Training and Evaluation Program (15 weeks). After completion of the probationary period, new officers are eligible to apply for specialized assignments in addition to regular duties.
In addition to the state of the art facilities, department members are outfitted with all equipment and uniforms at no cost to the employee, including a Glock 17 9mm, and Colt AR-15.
SPD also offers a take home car program with each vehicle equipped with a laptop and high speed internet.

The Stillwater PD selection process is designed to select the most qualified applicant.
Basic qualifications include the following:
Must be 21-45 years of age
In good physical condition
No felony convictions
No serious misdemeanor convictions
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred
To ensure the best candidate is selected, the process is extensive and is outlined below:
Physical agility testing (Police officer applicants only)
Oral interview board
Comprehensive background investigation
Police pension medical examination (Police officer applicants only)
Pre-employment drug screen
Interview with chief of police
