The Humane Society of Stillwater, Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue and the Animal Welfare Coalition are private, non-profit organizations with working partnerships with the City of Stillwater Animal Welfare Division.
The Animal Welfare Coalition is not a shelter, but an organization comprised of local animal organizations and community members who have come together to help Stillwater’s homeless pets. They do this by finding and providing resources to keep homeless pets safe and healthy until they find their forever homes.
The Companion Animal Assistance Program is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the health and welfare of companion animals through spay/neuter assistance and education. The program provides low cost spay and neuter services on an individual basis. They also work with Stillwater Animal Welfare by helping spay/neuter animals being adopted from its facilities.
If a dog or a cat has not found a home through Animal Welfare’s adoption process, it may transfer the dogs and cats to another long-term care and adoption agency. The Humane Society of Stillwater receives most of these dogs and cats, continuing their veterinary care and upkeep until finding them a new home. It is a volunteer organization that also provides education about keeping pets safe and healthy.
Tiny Paws Kitten Rescue saves orphaned, neonatal kittens. These are kittens that have lost their mothers and still need to be bottle fed. Tiny Paws does not rescue kittens that do not need to be bottle fed. Animal Welfare has not had to euthanize a kitten that still needs its mother for many years because of Tiny Paws.
