What We're Doing

The City of Stillwater and Stillwater Utilities Authority will replace the pumps, motors, control panel, valves, piping and other appurtenances, and perform associated electrical upgrades at the West Park Lift Station.

Benefits of the Project

The West Park Lift Station (WPLS) is located northwest of Country Club Road and State Highway 51 (6th Avenue) in the West Park Addition. The lift station is 40 years old, deteriorating, receiving inflow and infiltration and no longer working efficiently.

Project Management


Updates

January 24, 2017: The design phase is in progress which includes technical evaluation of the lift station and development of plans and specifications for a full replacement. 

November 15, 2017: Haynes Equipment Company conducted a test of the lift station and force main. Results are currently being analyzed.

February 27, 2018: Testing of the lift station and force main continue.

June 5, 2018: The City cleaned the force main to insure the pipe was not blocked. Further evaluation is underway.

December 24, 2018: The project scope was modified to wait to replace the existing pumps until a study is done on a new interceptor project that may eliminate the lift station.

March 7, 2019: The design Engineer finalized the technical research for recommending specifications for the new pumps.

June 4, 2019: Staff are currently reviewing the Engineer's pump recommendation.

August 12, 2019: Staff are contacting pump suppliers for quotes.

October 30, 2019: Staff are considering upgrading the lift station's existing electrical system to better support the required pump.

December 17, 2019: Staff are preparing the documents to competitively bid the project.

April 24, 2020: Staff have finalized a draft contract package for the project and have submitted for final review. 

August 24, 2020: Bid document review is complete and the project will be issued for Bid Saturday, August 29th, 2020. 

October 21, 2020: Staff and Engineer are currently reviewing the pump specifications submitted by one responsive bidder. 

December 8, 2020: Construction contract awarded to Centennial Contractors Enterprises.

February 8, 2021: The Contractor has provided the required submittals, which are currently being reviewed by our Engineer.

April 8, 2021: The Contractor visited the lift station last week to take measurements in the dry well and to inspect the electrical system. 

July 8, 2021: The Contractor is progressing with improvements at the lift station. Progress on electrical work has been slow due to wet weather. 

August 12, 2021: Electrical work is nearly complete. The next phase will be installation of the new pumps. 

August 31, 2021: All electrical, pump installation and piping work is complete. The Contractor is working on final cleanup and restoration.

September 14, 2021: All work at the lift station is complete. The Contractor is removing security fencing and cleaning the site in preparation for final payment.

October 4, 2021: The Contractor is gathering documentation for application for final payment.
