Residents may submit written or recorded comments for Items Not Scheduled for Public Hearings at City Council

ANNOUNCEMENT

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Nov. 13, 2020) – Stillwater City Council, Stillwater Utilities Authority and Stillwater Economic Development Authority will meet for special meetings Monday, Nov. 16.

The meeting will be begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Winfrey Theater in the Community Center, 315 W. 8th Ave. Face coverings are required and will be provided to residents upon entry. Because this meeting is held in a City facility, there are no exceptions to the face covering requirement, as stated in the City's August 18 Proclamation.

These meetings have been moved from their usual location at city hall in order to accommodate for social distancing in light of the expiration of the Governor's temporary order allowing teleconference meetings.

However, residents who wish to be heard on Items Not Scheduled for Public Hearings may submit their written or recorded comments online by 3 p.m. Monday. Recorded comments are limited to three minutes and all submissions must begin with the speaker’s name and address.

Video or voice recording comments will be played by a city staff member during the meeting. Written comments will be printed and provided to City Council members.

  • Public hearing for the closeout of #17286 Community Development Block Grant 18, which was used to fund improvements at Strickland Park.

  • Consider Ordinance 3463 for first reading to extend the City's face covering ordinance to Feb. 28, 2021

  • Consider approval of the purchase of new vehicles for the Waste Management Department

If you'd like to speak at this meeting, fill out the request to speak form at stillwater.org/requesttospeak. Residents who sign up to speak will be expected to speak in person and wear a face covering. Requests to speak must be submitted by 3 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

Nov. 16 Stillwater City Council to be held at Community Center

MEDIA RELEASE

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Nov. 10, 2020) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, Governor Stitt signed Senate Bill 661 on March 18, 2020, which temporarily modified the Oklahoma Open Meetings Act and allowed teleconference technology during public meetings such as Stillwater City Council and Planning Commission. The bill will terminate on Sunday, thus ending virtual meetings for now.

“However, we still have the need for social distancing,” McNickle said, “so to comply with state law the Monday, Nov. 16 Stillwater City Council meeting will be held in the Community Center and not city hall.” The meeting will be begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Winfrey Theater in the Community Center at 315 W. 8th Ave.

Regardless of meeting location, people who wish to speak on an agenda item will have to sign up before the meeting or use the online registration form at stillwater.org/requesttospeak

Face coverings will be required to enter the Community Center.

McNickle said that staff is still working on technical details. The meeting’s agenda will be posted as usual later this week.
