MEDIA RELEASE

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Jan. 17, 2019) – It’s that time of the year again— the City of Stillwater is entering the Budget Preparation Phase of the budget cycle and is calling on you to participate. Input on the City’s Fiscal Year 2021 budget can be given from your couch or in front of City Council.

Give input from your couch

Good news— you can have your idea of a perfect city budget heard by City Council and staff, directly from your couch or anywhere else. How? Submit your ideal budget through an online tool called Balancing Act. You can play with the City’s budget in real-time, making adjustments while limited to the same constraints that city staff are.

Make your voice heard. Go to https://stillwater-ok.abalancingact.com/city-of-stillwater-oklahoma-fy20-budget-general-fund-airport to submit your ideal city budget.

Speak directly to City Council

Would you like more of a face-to-face input option? A public hearing on the City’s budget is scheduled for Monday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room, Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 S. Lewis St. Remember to fill out the Request to Speak Form at http://stillwater.org/page/home/government/mayor-city-council/meetings-agendas-minutes/online-request-to-speak-at-city-council.

What is the Budget Preparation Phase?

This is a period from January to March where the City is taking public input to develop the next fiscal year’s budget. The City’s Finance Department works closely with the City Manager’s Office to develop a proposed operating budget, which will later be reviewed and approved by City Council.
