MEDIA RELEASE

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Oct. 4, 2019) – How would you like the streets near Oklahoma State University to look? The City of Stillwater is seeking feedback on how to redevelop the streetscape within the form-based code area.

Provide feedback at speakup.stillwater.org until Dec. 9.

What is form-based code? Form-based code is a land development regulation for achieving a specific urban form. It addresses the relationship between building facades and the public realm by regulating design, form and scale. This typically includes trees, lighting, benches, utilities, public art and other amenities.

The Stillwater form-based code area covers Washington to Husband streets, and Matthews to 5th avenues.

“The overall goal is to help provide a catalyst for additional redevelopment in the area,” City Planning Manager Lanc Gross said. “Your input will help the City identify specific amenities desired and which streets should be improved first.”

A series of streetscape templates will be developed, refined and presented to both Planning Commission and City Council for approval.

For this project, see timelines, provide input, and check for updates  at speakup.stillwater.org. Subscribe for project updates at the bottom right of the project page.

For more information about the form-based code area, contact Gross at Lanc.Gross@stillwater.org or 405-742-8215.
