MEDIA RELEASE
(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / March 16, 2018) – The intersection at Hall of Fame and Duck Street will close to traffic for a week beginning this Sunday, March 18 to replace a leaking water valve.
The closure is expected to begin around 2 p.m. The intersection is anticipated to fully reopen sometime on Friday, March 23.
The City will attempt to allow right turns in all directions at the intersection to help motorists and buses, although no straight through traffic is planned during construction.
Motorists are still encouraged to use alternate routes during the week to avoid the intersection.
Once the intersection closes on Sunday, crews will work primarily in the center of the intersection to excavate the leaking valve(s). Crews will replace the valve(s) on Monday.
Following the repairs, crews will prepare the excavated area for pavement. After the pavement is replaced, the City will try to condense traffic control to provide some through traffic while the concrete cures to a point the intersection can be fully opened.
Water customers in the area may experience low or no water pressure during the replacement. Residents can sign up for the Be Informed Stillwater alert system to receive updates on potential water outages at http://stillwater.org/page/home/online-services/emergency-alerts.
