SPD: Unattended death

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Updated Nov. 15, 2016) – On Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, the Stillwater Police Department responded to the Sigma Chi fraternity at 1101 W. University to investigate the unattended of 20-year-old Brandon Matthew Cavazos. Cavazos was found unresponsive in his bedroom by friends and later pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigation revealed there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play in Cavazos’ death. Cavazos was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation into the cause of his death. Preliminary results of the M.E.’s office have not determined a cause of death. The M.E.’s investigation is still pending as they await the results of toxicology tests.  The toxicology tests will likely take as many as six weeks to be completed.

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Nov. 12, 2016) – At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, the Stillwater Police Department responded to investigate an unattended death at the Sigma Chi fraternity located at 1101 W. University in Stillwater. Officers found 20-year-old Brandon Matthew Cavazos, a member of the fraternity, deceased in his bedroom at the house after friends called 9-1-1 when they found him lying in bed and unresponsive. There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play at the scene. The State Medical Examiner’s office is investigating the cause to determine a cause of death. Cavazos is a native of Bedford, Texas.
