(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Updated Nov. 21, 2016)
(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Nov. 10, 2016) – Travelers should expect some lane closures at the 6th Avenue and Perkins Road intersection beginning Tuesday Nov. 15.
The roadwork is part of an Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) project to increase intersection capacity with the addition of dual left turn lanes and dedicated right turn lanes. ODOT will also make ADA improvements along pedestrian walkways, improve the bridge and culvert and replace or relocate some water and sewer lines at the intersection.
ODOT will conduct the project in four phases so only one lane in each direction of the intersection is affected at a time to maintain traffic flow.
The order of the four phases is:
First: North side of SH-51 including the West side of Perkins Rd.
Second: South side of SH-51 including the West side of Perkins Rd.
Third: East side of Perkins Rd. on the North side of SH-51.
Fourth: East side of Perkins Rd. on the South side of SH-51.
The City of Stillwater suggests that drivers start using alternate routes during construction.
Northbound and southbound traffic: Main, Lewis, Lowry and Burdick streets.
Westbound and eastbound traffic: Virginia, 3rd, 8th, 9th and 12th avenues.
ODOT anticipates completing the project by September 2017. The City of Stillwater will post updates on the project online at http://stillwater.org/page/home/government/current-projects/transportation-projects/6th-avenue-perkins-road.
