For potential gallery artists
- How do I submit artwork to sell in the gallery?
Call or stop by to make an appointment with Connie Geresi so that she can review your portfolio. If it is decided that your work is appropriate for our venue, she will assist you in filling out the necessary paperwork
- What price should I charge for my artwork?
Ultimately, each artist is responsible for pricing their artwork. Here are some helpful suggestions when deciding what to charge. When setting a price for your artwork, consider the cost of your materials, the time spent creating the piece, and the profit you would like to see from the piece. Also keep in mind that the Multi Arts Center charges a 30% commission from each piece sold in order to help offset the costs of running the gallery. This commission rate is lowered to 25% for those artists who also teach classes at the Center.
- When will I be paid for my artwork that has sold?
All artists are paid during the first week of the new month for items sold during the previous month. You will be notified by phone when your check is ready for either pick up or mailing.
For potential class instructors
- I am interested in teaching an art class at the Multi Arts Center. What do I need to do?
If you are interested in sharing your art by teaching a class, please fill out the City of Stillwater job application form and turn it in to the Human Resources Department at City Hall. In addition, please fill out the Class Proposal Form so that we have an idea of what you would like to offer as a class. Feel free to stop by the Center at any time to talk with the Program Supervisor about your specific teaching questions.
- How are instructors paid?
Instructors are either unpaid volunteers or paid employees of the City of Stillwater. Employees are paid $9.04 per hour of teaching time, and are paid every other week. Employees also receive a 50% discount on classes at the Center and a discounted commission rate (25%) on items sold in the Gift Gallery.
- Who is responsible for purchasing supplies?
The Multi Arts Center will purchase or provide supplies for most classes. Students are responsible for purchasing supplies for classes such as oil painting or quilting. Instructors must include a list of necessary materials with their Class Proposal. Supplies provided to the student by the instructor are considered a donation and cannot be reimbursed.
