Library's Anime Club Relaunching with Kick-off Event on March 12

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Feb. 13, 2013) – The Stillwater Public Library is relaunching its popular Anime Club for young adults with a kick-off event on Tuesday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m.  The kick-off event will include a sushi making demonstration by Lee Stice, owner and executive chef at Kyoto Japanese Restaurant.  Participants will also have a chance to plan an anime viewing schedule and brainstorm activities for future meetings.

The Anime Club is for students in grades 6 -12 and will be held on the on the second Tuesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The monthly meetings include viewing new anime productions, practicing Manga drawing skills and learning about Japanese culture.

“I really want to allow club members to take some ownership of our activities,” said librarian Emily States. “We can watch anime at our meetings, but we can do a lot of other things too.  A few possibilities include having an anime club t-shirt design contest, writing a club newsletter, and coordinating anime themed gaming nights.”
