(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Sept. 17, 2012) – The League of Women Voters will present a forum about the upcoming state questions on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Stillwater Public Library. The forum, which begins at 7 p.m., will give citizens a chance to learn more about the measures included on Nov. 6 general election ballot.
“The state questions on the ballot are often complicated and confusing,” League of Women Voters President Kirsten Tautfest said. “Sometimes voters bypass that section on the ballot and choose not to vote on the questions. We want to help the public understand what the questions mean and give them the information to feel confident enough to vote.”
Tautfest will give the presentation introducing the state questions that will be on the ballot and what each question means. She will also include common pros and cons associated with the passage of each question. Participants are encouraged to ask questions about the information throughout the presentation; however, the session will not include debate on the merits of the state questions.
Candidates on the ballot will not be covered at this session.
The program is free and open to the public. Participants will also be able to register to vote at the presentation.
Library programs are co-sponsored the Friends of the Library and KOSU.
