Fourth Annual Small Business Conference set for October 24

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Oct. 1, 2012) – Kyle Eastham will be the opening speaker at the Fourth Annual Small Business Conference (formerly Micro Business Conference) to be held at the Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register online at smallbiz.okstate.edu.
Kyle Eastham is the founder and Executive Director of Bold Step, an organization that works with universities to reduce sexual assault against college women. Eastham has a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship and is an adjunct professor in the OSU School of Entrepreneurship. Eastham has spoken all over the US on topics including self-defense, peak performance, motivation and managing employees.
Also available at this year’s conference are three separate concurrent session tracks, including one for Social Media, a second for personal networking and a third track for basic business information. Included in this third track is a session taught by Dr. Brian Whitacre, a returning favorite presenter. This year Dr. Whitacre will talk about PayPal, and will guide participants through a hands-on exercise that will allow them to start accepting payments on their own website.
Of course, new speakers with new topics will also be a part of the conference. Dr. Cosette Armstrong will present a session on Visual Merchandising, which should be of interest to businesses with a storefront. Monika Turek, OSU Accounting Department, will discuss basic business structure, including LLC formation. Megan Horton is the Manager of OSU Web Initiatives, and her presentation deals with evaluating social media efforts.
This year’s lunch program will be presented by Mandy Gross, Communications Specialist at the Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center on the OSU Campus. Gross’ presentation is titled “Strategic Planning for Social Media.”
