| Program Summary
The Environmental Programs Division manages compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The division is a resource to all City of Stillwater departments. The division is responsible for the Industrial Pretreatment Program. Facility inspections and sampling inspections are conducted on Stillwater’s permitted industrial users. The division assists Stillwater Power and the Stillwater Water Utility with NPDES and Air Quality issues. The division conducts the City of Stillwater's Household Hazardous Waste Collection, Computer and Electronics Recycling and Trash-Off Events. The division also addresses citizen inquiries regarding environmental issues. The office provides around-the-clock availability for coordination, information, sampling, and other services as necessary.

- How do I dispose of latex paint?
Latex paint is a non-hazardous substance, but can not be placed in the trash until it is in a solid form. Because of this we recommend putting kitty litter or other absorbent material into the wet paint to solidify the paint prior to placing it in the trash.
- Where do you dispose of old or unwanted household pollutants?
The City of Stillwater conducts a household hazardous waste collection event each year in the Fall.
- What are some common household pollutants?
Items such as lawn and garden chemicals, household cleaning products, unused or unwanted prescription and non-prescription medications, oils, solvents, antifreeze, etc.
- What household pollutants can I recycle throughout the year?
The City of Stillwater Convenience Collection Center provides area residences with a convenient, professionally staffed, drive-thru service for disposing of non-hazardous recyclable goods, household waste and green waste.
- How do I recycle old or unwanted televisions, computers and other small electronic items?
The City of Stillwater conducts a computer and electronics collection event (E-Waste) each year in the Spring. This year’s event will be on April 26th, 2008.
