Boomer Lake Substation Upgrade, Phase I
Purpose: To improve service to approximately 4,600 electric customers located in north central Stillwater by correcting problems that presently compromise the safety, reliability and operational flexibility within the city’s 69 kV system.
Location: #1 BLS Drive
Scope of Work:
- Control building with relays, racks, station batteries, AC & DC distribution panels, and ancillary equipment to upgrade the protection, monitoring and control of existing substation equipment.
- Rebuild of 69kV line approach to substation.
- Replace guyed wood poles and 69kV lattice slack span terminal structures with modern structural steel self-supported poles and dead end structures.
- Replace copper conductor string bus with aluminum tubular bus, structural steel bus support and modern insulator materials and surge suppression equipment.
- Replace two obsolete 69kV oil-filled circuit breakers with new SF-6 circuit breakers and add a third circuit breaker required for selective fault management in the substation and the 69 kV system.
