Funding
The payment of electric bills not only keeps the lights on, but also helps support other essential City services. Generally, from $3.5 to $5 million dollars is transferred annually from the revenues of Stillwater Electric Utility to support police, fire and recreation. Even while supporting these needs, rates in Stillwater remain low. New residents to town are often amazed at how low rates are compared to the rest of the country. Around town, Stillwater Electric Utility provides the lighting for recreation areas, ball fields, and the municipal Christmas display.
