(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Oct. 27, 2012) — Red Dirt Zombies are almost here! Stillwater’s 22nd Downtown Halloween Festival will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. on Main Street between 7th and 10th Avenues.

The festival will include traditional children's games, inflatables, live music, trick-or-treating with downtown merchants, and the annual costume contest. While the festival is free of charge, Downtown Stillwater would like to encourage festival attendees to bring a canned or nonperishable food item to donate to the United Way. Each person donating a food item will receive a raffle ticket for a prize drawing.

The costume contest will begin with line-up at 6:15 p.m. with judging following immediately after at 6:30 p.m. Participants will assemble at their specific age category locations which will be identified on the street.

The Stillwater NewsPress will be hosting a photo booth located on the east corner of 8th and Main. Children can have their photo taken and a photo of every child will be published in the Stillwater NewsPress.

Also, the festival is hosting a food drive. "We are asking residents to bring nonperishable food items — canned food, boxes of breakfast cereal, bottles of juice, etc. It's a good way to help the community," Frazier added.

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Oct. 16, 2012) — Get your costumes ready for Stillwater’s 22nd Downtown Halloween Festival! This year’s theme is “Red Dirt Zombies.” The festival will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. on Main Street between 7th and 12th Avenues.

"Zombies are everywhere this year, including in Downtown Stillwater. The 2012 festival's poster features students from the OSU Urban Gaming Club in full zombie mode hanging out at Salmon Plaza," said Business Improvement District Coordinator Amy Jo Frazier. "We are very excited to see what kind of zombie costumes will be seen at the festival."

The annual festival, which is free of charge, includes traditional children's games, inflatables, live music, trick-or-treating with downtown merchants, and the annual costume contest.

"Each year, the costume contest is amazing," Frazier said. "We have lots of categories and age groups, so many people can be recognized."

The costume contest line-up will begin at 6:15 p.m. Participants will gather at their age category location, which will be specified on Main Street. The contest will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
