E-reader assistance follow-up at Stillwater Public Library Feb. 16
(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Jan. 23, 2012) – As better, direct download e-readers like the Amazon Fire become available, the Stillwater Public Library is seeing an ever increasing number of e-reader users wanting to access the library’s free eBook service, Overdrive. On Thursday, Feb. 16, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., the library will offer another one on one tutoring session on how to use that service.
Librarians will be available to work with participants one on one to go over topics such as choosing a book, checking out material, downloading books to the participants’ e-readers and more.
The sessions are by registration. Participants will be scheduled to come in at specific times, so that the number of people needing assistance will be more evenly distributed throughout the event.
“At the same event earlier this month, we assisted 120 people in learning how to use their e-readers and our eBook system, Overdrive,” said Lynda Reynolds, library director. “We are hoping that this staggered scheduling will reduce the time people have to wait for assistance.”
Participants should bring their library card, e-reader and their e-readers’ USB cord. If the e-reader is a Kindle with wi-fi or a Sony Reader with wi-fi, no USB cord is necessary. Anyone without a library card should apply for one before the open house. Library cards are free for people who live, work or go to school in Payne County. Library users who have not updated their cards within the last year should check with the Circulation Services Desk to have their card renewed before their appointment. Anyone bringing in a Kindle should make sure they have made an Amazon account and should also bring in their username and password.
