(STILLWATER, OKLA. / July 13, 2011) – Mrs. Oklahoma 2011 Megan Murray will visit the Stillwater Public Library for storytime on Friday, July 29 at 11 a.m. and Monday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

“Storytime has always been special for our family,” said Murray, mother of Braelyn, age five, and Maddox, age three. “The library’s storytimes are wonderful opportunities for families to share time together and for children to receive special time with a parent.”

Murray will be reading books designed to help children build confidence and self-esteem.  She will also spend time with parents discussing how she manages her full schedule.  Murray is the co-owner of a home based bakery, models part-time and is an active volunteer with the PTA, her church and the Glencoe Alumni Committee.

Since becoming Mrs. Oklahoma, Murray has also been raising awareness about resources for children with special needs.  Murray volunteers at Hope Ranch in Ponca City that provides horse riding opportunities for children with disabilities, and she serves as a committee member of the Mya Gonzales Foundation that provides scholarships to the Rise School, a preschool for children with developmental disabilities

“As a mother with two small children, I know how hard it can be to manage your home, your family, a job, volunteer work and the many other things mothers do everyday,” said Murray.  “Storytime is the perfect opportunity to slow down, take a breath and enjoy moments with your child while also having the chance to meet other parents who share many of the same concerns and challenges.”

The Stillwater Public Library storytime is free and open to children and caregivers. It typically includes stories, songs and crafts with occasional special guests who share stories with the children.

The full schedule of storytimes is available at library.stillwater.org.  For more information, visit the library website, call (405) 372-3633 or email askalibrarian@stillwater.org.

The Stillwater Public Library is located at 1107 S. Duck St. Library hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
