'Get Organized Month!' Classes offered at Stillwater Public Library this January
(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Jan. 3, 2011) – Many Stillwater community members will be making New Year’s resolutions in the coming week and then breaking those resolutions in the next. The Stillwater Public Library’s “Get Organized Month” classes during January may make it easier to keep resolutions on track.
“Getting organized can be a huge help in keeping your resolutions,” said Shannon Cowan, “Get Organized Month” speaker and professional organizer. “Whether your resolution involves saving money, improving your health, being more productive at work, or spending more time with your family, organizing your physical objects, your time, and your mind will help you meet these goals.”
“Get Organized Month” will feature three programs that are free and open to the Stillwater community. The series begins Thursday, Jan. 13, when Cowan will lead an educational seminar on picking, starting and completing an organizing project. The class begins at noon and will include a free lunch provided by Pizza West, a new Stillwater restaurant.
On Thursday, Jan. 20 at noon, Geekabytes' Daniel Devers and Cowan will discuss getting organized electronically. Lunch will be provided by Chipotle Mexican Grill and the Friends of the Library.
“More and more of our lives—documents, pictures, vital information—are stored on a computer," said Librarian Stacy DeLano. “If you don’t keep that material organized, it can really create problems. Shannon and Daniel will explain how to keep your digital material neat and easy to access.”
“Get Organized Month” culminates with the library’s drive-through shredding event Saturday, Jan. 29. Shred-Away will be in the library’s north parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon to shred up to two boxes of documents per car. Boxes will be unloaded and papers will be shredded onsite.
