Celebrate Valentine’s month with 'Forever. For Real' at the Stillwater Public Library
Enroll in a four week relationship strengthening workshop at the library
(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Jan. 12, 2011) – Best estimates consistently place Oklahoma in the top five for number of divorces by state residence. According to the Oklahoma Marriage Initiative (OMI), nearly 40 percent of Oklahoma adults who marry also divorce. OMI, an organization dedicated to supporting and improving Oklahoma marriages, aims to change those statistics.
Stillwater residents can take advantage of OMI’s efforts by attending “Forever. For Real” a four-week relationship strengthening workshop at the Stillwater Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 3, 10, 17, and 24. The 6:30 p.m. sessions will be led by Chris Wright, OMI trainer, and will focus on listening and being heard, talking about tough subjects without fighting, understanding each other better, and keeping romance alive.
“We encourage couples, struggling or not, to take these classes together to strengthen their marriage by learning the skills that are proven to counteract the negative things that can lead to divorce,” said Wright. “The tools can be applied to any type of relationship. The workshop is an open and safe place for anyone or any couple looking to enhance their understanding of relationship dynamics. They're fun, informative, and free.”
Engaged couples who attend together will receive a $45 discount on their Oklahoma marriage license.
The event is free and open to the public. All couples are welcome, as well as anyone interested in strengthening a relationship or anyone offering relationship support services including counselors and city and church leaders.
