Election dates set for Stillwater City Council

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Dec. 15, 2011) The Stillwater City Council passed the resolution calling for a primary and general election for "Councilor No. 5, Mayor," for a three year term. The filing period for those seats will run from Feb. 6 to Feb. 8. A primary election is scheduled for March 6 and the general election is set for April 3.

Candidates file at the County Election Board located in the Payne County Administration Building at 6th Avenue and Duck Street. Qualification for office:  registered voter who has resided within Stillwater for at least six months preceding the filing and who are at least 21 years old. Municipal elections are nonpartisan.

"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER,
OKLAHOMA, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, TO SIGN AND ISSUE AN
ELECTION PROCLAMATION CALLING FOR A PRIMARY AND GENERAL
ELECTION IN THE CITY OF STILLWATER."

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STILLWATER,
OKLAHOMA:

SECTION 1 : That the City Council of the City of Stillwater, Oklahoma, a municipal
corporation, in open session at its regularly scheduled Council Meeting on the 12th day of
December, 2011, hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of Stillwater, Oklahoma, to issue and
sign a Proclamation calling for a Primary Election on the 6th day of March, 2012, if needed, and a
General Election on the 3rd day of April, 2012, for the election of one (1) member of the City
Council designated as Councilor No. 5, Mayor, for a term of three (3) years.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of December, 2011.

Elections are conducted by the Payne County Election Board.
