The City of Stillwater Multi Arts Center: Summer Arts Program

Enrollment begins Monday, April 12 for a variety of classes that will be held between May 1 and Aug.31. Enrollment may be completed by mail or in person at 1001 S. Duck St. or by phone at (405) 533-8539.

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / April 7, 2010) — Art classes for all ages, including the popular Kids Summer Art Camp, are being offered at the City of Stillwater Multi Arts Center this summer.

Enrollment begins Monday, April 12 for a variety of classes that will be held between May 1 and Aug.31. Enrollment may be completed by mail or in person at 1001 S. Duck St. or by phone at (405) 533-8539.

Multi Arts Center Supervisor Jessica Novak encourages early enrollment. "Our classes are kept generally small to encourage learning, and spaces fill quickly," she said.

Returning this summer is the Kids Summer Art Camp, a popular program designed for children age 5 to 13 to be creative and explore the wide world of art.

The sessions are held in two-week sessions that meet from 8:30 a.m. to noon. During this time, campers may enjoy a variety of activities that include playing with clay, experimenting with paint and creating 3D sculptures. Each day includes a mid-morning break with outdoor games and healthy snacks.

Novak said, “The Kids Summer Art Camp is so popular parents have been requesting information about when to enroll since January. Many children have such a good time that they return year after year, and we have even had some students return as counselors when they are old enough.”

Each session accepts 22 young artists, and parents are encouraged to enroll early to avoid being placed on a waiting list.

For teens, the Multi Arts Center also offers a number of classes and workshop, including pottery, printmaking, sculpting, photography, weaving and more.

"With 34 classes, taught by a mixture of new and returning art instructor, you are sure to find the activity," Novak said.

The Multi Arts Center is one of the largest community art centers in Oklahoma. It relies on talented local artists to create an appealing list of classes for students of all ages and abilities. Artists interested in sharing their love of art by teaching a class should contact the Multi Arts Center.
