Stillwater Public Library offers free basis computer classes

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Aug. 24, 2008) – Stillwater Public Library is offering a free four-week class on basic computer skills. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. and will be limited to six students.

Reference Librarian Andrea Duncan, who will teach the sessions, said, "The classes are great for learning basic skills and the small class size provides a comfortable learning environment and makes individual assistance possible.”

The classes meet for 1.5 hours each Tuesday at 1 p.m. through Sept. 29. Students will receive hands-on practice, have time to ask questions and be able to take home handouts for additional practice.

Each week's class will feature a new topic:

Using the Mouse: learning basic computer terminology and how to “mouse around.”
Basic Internet: learning basic skills to search and surf the Internet is studied on the second week.
Basic E-mail: learning e-mail skills using a web-based (free) email system to compose and send e-mails.
Microsoft Word: learning simple word processing skills, including how to edit, copy, cut, paste, and save your work.

Registration for October’s classes will begin Sept. 21.

This service is free on open to the public.

Library hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Stillwater Public Library is located at 1107 S. Duck St. (the corner of Duck and 12th Ave.).
