Downtown Halloween Festival announces theme for 2009

(STILLWATER, OKLA. / Sept. 19, 2009) — Ahoy, me hearties! The Downtown Halloween Festival September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Arrr! You heard me correct matey! For all you of you landlubbers, the Jolly Roger an infamous pirate “ghost ship” will be docking in Downtown Stillwater during the Annual Halloween Festival October 27th, celebrating this year’s theme, “Pirates on the Prairie." http://www.talklikeapirate.com/
The Halloween festival is an annual event presented by Downtown Stillwater and the City of Stillwater. This year’s festival will have some new additions chosen specifically for the pirate theme, including performances by the Rum Fellows, featuring “Okie Maritime Music for the Landlocked Pirate” http://www.myspace.com/therumfellows.
“Downtown Stillwater is very excited about our pirate theme this year,” said John Bartley Business Improvement District Board Chairman. “We strive to put on a family friendly event that gives our Downtown merchants the opportunity to say thank you to their customers and the community for supporting their business and Downtown.”
Also new this year is two huge inflatables, Blackbeard’s Revenge (pirate ship) and the ghost town maze. Wristbands will be required for inflatable fun, $3 for one, two $5, play as much as you want! http://www.downtownstw.com/halloween/.
Plenty of swag and grub will be given out, so board the ship early with your pirate gear for this year’s Annual Downtown Halloween Festival, it is sure to be a fun time for all you lads, lassies and old sea dogs!
The City of Stillwater recognizes traditional Halloween trick-or-treat activities on Friday, Oct. 31.
