(STILLWATER, OKLA. / June 10, 2015) The City of Stillwater announced today that Chickasaw Telecommunication Services will serve as the title sponsor of the City’s Independence Day fireworks show. The Chickasaw Boomer Blast Fireworks Show will take place Saturday, July 4 at Boomer Lake Park in Stillwater.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity to sponsor an event that brings families together,” Sales and Marketing Associate Alicia Schultz said. “We are part of a family owned company, and as a result are heavily dedicated to promoting anything that benefits the families we serve.”
Chickasaw will contribute $5,000 to help offset the cost of the fireworks. The event itself is organized and presented by the City of Stillwater.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit back and enjoy the free show. Parking is free and lots open at 6:30 p.m. and Lakeview Road bridge will be closed and open for guests. The 20-minute show will start around 9:35 p.m.
“We’re looking forward to another successful fireworks show as we come together to provide activities for residents and visitors to enjoy,” said Mayor Gina Noble. “Our community is fortunate to have partners like Chickasaw Telecommunication Services who are willing to contribute to important causes to enable us to continue the momentum and excitement we’re experiencing in Stillwater.”
On the morning of July 4, the City is also hosting the 18th Annual Family Fishing Tournament at Boomer Lake’s south boat ramp (Lakeview Road and Washington Street). Registration is at 5:30 a.m. There is a $15 entry fee for each team of four family members. Teams may consist of up to four family members. There are both boat and non-boat categories.
Schultz added, “A Fourth of July fireworks show is the perfect event for us to sponsor, because we believe that time well spent together builds stronger families, which are vital to building successful communities.”
The City of Stillwater would also like to thank Oklahoma State University, Kicker, Stillwater Medical Center, Suddenlink, Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, Oncue, Downtown Stillwater, The Bank N.A., RCB Bank, Dupree Sports and Kinnunen for their sponsorships.
If Boomer Blast is rained out, the firework show will be on Sunday, July 5 or delayed until fall.
