  • Everyone is welcome to a reception welcoming OSU President and First Lady, V. Burns and Ann Hargis, Tuesday, May 27

    The City of Stillwater is rollin' out the welcome wagon for OSU's new President and First Lady, V. Burns and Ann Hargis Tuesday, May 27 at the City of Stillwater Community Center from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

    The reception, which is opened to all area residents, will be hosted by Mayor Roger L. McMillian and the Stillwater City Council and the Community Singers' Barbershop Quartet is scheduled to perform.

  • Announcing City of Stillwater/YMCA Youth Sports Camp 2008

    Registration begins Tuesday, May 27 for a new Youth Sports Camp that will focus on sportsmanship as much as how to play the games.

    The Stillwater Family YMCA and the City of Stillwater Parks, Events and Recreation Department have join together, with FCA members and OSU athletes, to present a new opportunity for area youths this summer.

    Registration forms are available at the YMCA. The fee is $30 per child and includes a T-shirt. Each session is limited to 30 children. Read more...

  • Rosters for adult softball leagues are due by Monday, June 2

    Please complete the team roster and return it to Parks, Events and Recreation Administrative Offices at 315 E. 9th St. Office hours are Monday though Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

    Rosters may be faxed to (405) 747-8060. Entry fees must be paid by Monday, June 20. Teams that have not paid their entry fees by this date will not be placed in the league. Payment in full is due at the time of registration, and credit cards are accepted.

    Men's team...$400 | Coed team...$275 | Seniors team...$325

  • Lou Ann Browning promoted to City of Stillwater Environment Programs manager

    According to Deputy City Manager Dan Blankenship, “The City is fortunate to have Ms. Browning on staff. She brings with her years of expertise, experience and a real desire to make Stillwater a great place to live.”

    Before coming to Stillwater, Browning served three years as a senior environmental technician and HazMat coordinator for Kellogg Brown and Root in Kuwait and Iraq.

  • Explore Stillwater's past with a guided walking tour presented by the Stillwater Public Library

    Enjoy a "Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Stillwater" presented by the Stillwater Public Library Saturday, May 17 at three different times, 9, 10 and 11 am.

    The tours, which will begin and end at the library, will include information about the history of Stillwater and the stories behind many of its older buildings.

    Participates should allow about two hours for two-mile walk and to expect frequent stops along the way.

  • Sculpted Self-Portraits for Young Sculptors set for May 8 - 29 at the City of Stillwater Multi Arts Center

    The City of Stillwater Multi Arts Center (MAC) is taking registration for the Sculpted Self-Portraits for Young Sculptors class.

    Designed for grades 6-12, the class is scheduled May 8 through May 29 on Mondays and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m.(previously advertised as 3-5 p.m.) There is no class May 26.

    Students will learn clay sculpting techniques to create a life size self portrait in 3-D sculpture from artist Lou Hale.

    Planning to be the next Roger Federer or Serena Williams of the Stillwater tennis circuit? The City of Stillwater Tennis Lesson Program, designed to teach the beginner and advanced beginner players, is set for this June for both youth and adults.

    The cost per session is $40 per person or $80 per family. Credit cards accepted.

  • Pool opens Saturday, May 24; Register now for the City of Stillwater's American Red Cross 'Learn to Swim Program'

    Registration begins Monday, April 21 for the City of Stillwater’s American Red Cross "Learn to Swim Program" for the upcoming 2008 summer season.

    Amy Jo Frazier, city’s aquatic supervisor, said, “The municipal pool opens Saturday, May 24 and swim lessons will begin the first week of June, but we are now accepting registration for American Red Cross certified lessons for beginners through lifeguard readiness.”

  • City's Water Utilities Department to begin GIS/mapping project

    In an effort to better serve its customers, the City of Stillwater Department of Water Utilities recently commissioned a geographic information system (GIS) and mapping project in the Rural Water Corp #3 service area. 

    According to Director Anthony Daniel, "This is a very important project. During the project, water service utilities in this area will be located, inventoried and mapped to facilitate and expedite maintenance, replacement and/or repair of your water service system."

  • Help wanted: Summer jobs now available

    City of Stillwater Department of Parks, Events and Recreation is now hiring for many of its summer part-time positions, according to Jim Scott, program manager.

    “Hiring seasonal part-time maintenance workers and sports officials is essential, if we are to provide successful, fun sports programs for residents,” he said.

  • Multi Arts announces summer classes; Enrollment begins April 21

    The City of Stillwater Multi Arts Center (MAC) is dedicated to education and outreach, and promotes support for the arts and artists by providing a widespread community with opportunities to create, explore and be exposed to various mediums of art. The MAC constantly strives to stimulate artistic creation and appreciation, and serves the public as consumers and as artists by offering a variety of high quality classes for adults and children, as well as regular gallery installations.   • Register now for Homebuyer Education (HBE) Classes slated for June 7

    Since 1999 more than 1,000 people have attended a City of Stillwater’s Homebuyer Education Classes. These classes are cosponsored by a local lender and presented by certified extension educators from the OSU Cooperative Extension Service. Additional presentations are made by local lenders, the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, insurance agents and home inspectors.

    Classes are open to the public and all potential homebuyers are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested in attending a class should call (405) 533-8443 to pre-register. Attendance at a homebuyer education class is a requirement for assistance from the City of Stillwater’s Homebuyer Assistance (HBA) program.
